Our Story
Vera's Getaways began with a simple idea: give visitors to Newfoundland somewhere to stay that feels like the island itself — warm, characterful, and genuinely welcoming.
Today that means two very different places. Queens Hall is a restored historic home in the heart of St. John's, with 14-foot ceilings and elegant open-concept living, steps from George Street and the city's best restaurants. Anchor Down sits out in Rocky Harbour, where four coastal suites — Naval, Fishermans, Killick and Cuddy — put you close to the hiking trails, boat tours and fjords of Gros Morne National Park.
We host every guest ourselves. If something needs sorting during your stay, you're talking to the people who own the place, not a call centre.
Every stay is prepared personally — fresh linens, thoughtful touches, and a host who answers the phone.
Our suites are named for the working boats and gear of the inshore fishery, and furnished to feel like home on the Rock.
